Deen Dayal Awas Yojna
Deen Dayal Awas Yojna is an affordable housing scheme launched by the Government of Haryana to provide housing facilities to economically weaker and disadvantaged areas of the state. Through this program, the government aims to provide affordable housing to eligible families in the state.
It aims to alleviate financial hardships for economically vulnerable individuals when trying to build homes. Let's delve into the details of the DDJAY Haryana scheme, including how to apply and the benefits it offers.
As of May 16, 2023, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) issued an order specifying that under the DDJAY scheme, only three-story constructions will be permitted on affordable housing land parcels. Approvals for constructing multi-story buildings are under review by a specialized committee set up by the authority. This committee is currently working on its report.
Initially, the Haryana state government had restricted the construction of fourth floors in these buildings. However, confusion arose when the government did not release any details for affordable housing land parcels under the DDJAY scheme, leading to the recent clarification.
On May 10, 2023, as per an order by the Director of DTCP, TL Satyaprakash, applications were received for approvals on layout plans issued during the time of granting licenses. These plans allowed for densely populated four residential units per plot. Experts, though, mentioned that only three residential units with a denser population of 13.5 persons per plot would be approved.
Overview of DDJAY
The Haryana state government initiated the Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana (DDJAY) to assist the homeless in finding housing. This program collaborates with private construction firms to develop colonies on land ranging from 5 to 15 acres. Each housing unit within these colonies occupies 150 square meters of land, with a built-up area of 300 square meters. Additionally, 10% of the developed land is allocated for public facilities.
After the construction of colonies, builders are required to provide 10% of the authorized area to the government for basic amenities, which will be developed for the benefit of the residents. The Haryana government aims to empower economically disadvantaged families by offering them affordable homes through the DDJAY scheme.
